BLACKBURN Under 15s failed to make it four wins in a row following their 3-2 reverse against West Lancashire in their Lancashire League match at Edge Hill College, last week.

The local lads suffered an early set back going behind after just five minutes but they equalised mid way through the first half when Simon Farrington scored from a Jordan Hamilton cross.

West Lancashire struck either side of the break to go into a 3-1 lead but Blackburn made a late reply through Matthew Conning five minutes from time.

The Under 15s have another Lancashire League match against Hyndburn at Pleasington on Saturday, kick off 10am.

Blackburn Under 14s were celebrating after stretching their unbeaten run to four with a 7-2 win against Spen Valley in their challenge match at Pleasington.

The local youngsters were in sparkling form and Michael Aspin quickly netted twice in the early stages of the game.

Jimmy Tilsley grabbed the third and Aspin grabbed another couple before Scott Carlton put his name on the score sheet to give Blackburn a commanding 6-0 half time lead.

Spen Valley pulled a couple back scoring twice in the first 15 minutes of the second half but Blackburn had the last say with Aspin scoring his fifth of the game.

Rossendale Under 15s came unstuck going down 2-1 to Preston in a Lancashire League match at Fearns High School.

Preston went into a 2-0 lead with goals either side of the break but Rossendale hit back with a Peter Illingworth header mid way through the second half.

Meanwhile, at county level, Lancashire Under 19s were held to a 3-3 draw against Cheshire in their Northern Counties group match.

Sam Bailey scored twice to give Cheshire a 2-0 lead but Jamie Hastings

pulled one back just before the break.

Goals from Dan Mahoney and Ewan Purcell put Lancashire in front but Cheshire claimed a share of the points.
