NEWMAN COLLEGE...1 FAIRFIELD...3: THERE was a dreadful start to the afternoon for Fairfield who not only arrived at the ground late, also fell behind inside the first minute.

To their credit they fought back and controlled the rest of the first half although the final pass let them down on several occasions and they went in at half time still trailing to the early goal.

Fairfield started the second half as they ended the first and 10 minutes into the half, a corner from Scott Horsfield was nodded in by Darren Olive to bring them deservedly level.

Soon after, Fairfield won another corner and this time Barrie Campbell headed home another Horsfield set piece.

Young Zak Galbraith put in a steady composed performance at left back, Darren Olive was impressive down the right flank and Deveney although untroubled for most of the game tipped over a ferocious shot to keep Fairfield ahead.

The game was effectively over with 15 minutes remaining when Rob Willcox took his tally to 10 for the season with a superb finish.

Man of the match was Barrie Campbell, who played superbly throughout the 90 minutes at the heart of the defence.

TEAM: Deveney, Cunningham, Galbraith, B.Campbell, G.Campbell, Nally (Rhodes), Olive, Haslam, D.Berry, Willcox, Horsfield.

After a two week absence, the Fairfield second string were in action against their closest rivals, Old Mancunians.

Despite fielding an under strength team, with manager Lee Trippier playing in goal and after being reduced to 10 men with the dismissal of Paul Bersz, they held on and gained a credible 2-2 draw with goals from Clifford Howard and Bryn Gutkowski.
