ON Saturday the Bury Society held their third working part on Parkers' bottom lodge.

This proved very succesful with the stream spillway cleared of bankside weeds, brambles and overhanging trees as far as the concrete input pipe.

The bankside path was also cleared of brambles and willows.

A fourth working party will be held on Saturday, November 29 to clear the pathway at the top end of the lodge.

This Sunday, Parkers is the venue for the November Cup, draw 9am, fishing from 10am to 3pm. As from November 15, bloodworm is allowed in club matches.

Good catches of skimmer bream have come from the top end of the lodge.

On Sunday, several local anglers travelled to Rishton to fish the 57 peg Leeds-Liverpool Canal in the Blackburn Octoplus Open.

Top weight fell to Alan Wood (Blackburn Octoplus) fishing peg 1 with 5-10-0 with roach to 4oz.

In second place was Richard Yates (Ted Carter Southport) 4-4-7, third Dezzie Forrest (Octoplus Blackburn) 2-14-0, fourth Jonathan Jowett (Drennan NW) 2-11-8 and fifth Daz Shaw (Drennan NW) 2-11-0.

In Yorkshire, local anglers have featured in the leading weights at Woodland Lakes near Thirsk.

First time winner Alex Warren (Elton Tackle) had top weight in Wednesday's Open with 45-6-0.

In second place world champion Alan Scotthorne (Shimano Mustad) 45-5-0, third Graham Smith (Northallerton) 45-3-0, fourth A. Sparling (Fire Services) 41-6-0, fifth S. Fearnley (Elton Tackle) 40-13-0.

The Bury & District Annual Fur and Feather match scheduled to be held on Sunday, December 14, will be bigger than ever to accommodate 90 anglers on seven different local venues.

Three sections Parkers; two Island Lodge; one Cartwheel; one Field; one Kirklees; one Coffin; one Little Carcass.

Ticket price is £12 which includes buffet, pools and prizes. Non-members must purchase a day ticket.

Draw will take place at Garsdale Hotel, Woodhill Road, 7.30am to 8.30am.

Results and presentation at Bury Bridge Working Mens Club, Crostons Road, 4pm.

THE club trip to Conway fishing aboard Lady Gwen II was blown off due to adverse weather conditions.

The club have two future trips booked, sailing out of Liverpool on both occasions.

Two boats have been booked: Saturday, December 20, Atlantis and Jenson and Saturday, January 17: Atlantis and St Claire.

THE next club trip will be held on Sunday, November 23 to Rhyl, fishing aboard Sea Gem.

It will be a five hour trip sailing at 8.30am.

Last week three sea anglers from Edenfield, Gordon Ashworth, Dennis Chadwick and Harry Taylor, had two very successful trips to Talacre, fishing the venue at low water.

The accounted for plenty of whiting, dabs, flounder and codling to 2lb, baiting with frozen lug tipped with mackerel.
