IT was a proud day for Preston and Leyland when The King's Royal Hussars marched through the streets to commemorate their freedom of the boroughs.

It was an honour bestowed on the regiment in recognition of services to the boroughs and the nation.

The cavalry regiment, paraded in Leyland with their band on Thursday, November 7, ahead a parade through Preston the following day and a service at Preston Minster, Church Street.

The current regiment is an amalgamation of the 14th and 20th King's Hussars, formed in 1922, and based at Aliwal Barracks, Wiltshire as part of 12 mechanised brigade.
