DANCERS, singers and drama enthusiasts are to join forces for a concert to celebrate one of Colne's best loved festivals.

Festival Showcase will feature the talents of some of the best competitors to have taken part in the annual Luther Greenwood Memorial Festival.

The show at Colne Municiapl Hall on Saturday, November 29, promises to be the highlight of the festival's opening weekend.

Eric Beardsworth, spokesman for the show, said: "It will be the first time we have held a concert like this. We wanted to bring together all the varied aspects of the festival's speech and drama, dance and music.

"It should be a special showcase event to present all this talent to a wider audience."

The concert will feature Susan Chippendale dancers, Sacred Heart Primary School choir, singers Gemma Horsfall and Bill Ormerod, woodwind player Gavin Wiseman, pianist Naomi Warrn and flautist Anna Wilkinson.

Others signed up to take part include the Fifty Something Theatre Group, Pamela Jelley, Colne Ladies' Choir and Colne Orpheus Male Voice Choir.

Tickets costing £3 will be available on the door and there is free admission for accompanied children. A Christmas raffle will be held on the night and anyone wanting to reserve a seat should call 867152.

Children's music classes will also be held throughout the day at Colne Parish Church and at the Municipal Hall and speech and drama classes will be at St John's Methodist Church, Albert Road.

Adult music classes will be held the following Saturday, December 6, at the Municipal Hall.
