TECHNOLOGY "troubleshooters" PC World Business has launched a UK first to help businesses beset by computer problems.

The specialist IT provider, based at the Waterfold Park at Heap Bridge, Bury, has introduced Britain's first-ever remote technology support service, offering small companies the level of IT support which large corporates enjoy, but at a fraction of the cost.

After a year-long trial with more than 70 UK businesses, the service has resolved 95 per cent of technology problems in less than an hour, at a fraction of the cost of in-house or alternative external IT support. In the vast majority of cases, all issues are resolved remotely, without the need for an engineer to visit the customer's site.

RITM utilises "Unicenter", a network management system used by more than half of FTSE 100 companies and 95 per cent of Fortune 500 companies.

Richard Millman, marketing director at PC World Business commented: "Many organisations cannot justify employing an IT manager and so the task of IT support is handed to another member of staff, distracting them from their day to day work. The aim of RITM is to bridge this gap."
