THE manager of a Clitheroe charity store today paid tribute to volunteer Edmond Cambien whose body was found in a lodge after he went missing from home.

Mr Cambien had volunteered in the Age Concern charity shop in Moor Lane every Tuesday for 10 years.

He was reported missing to police on Tuesday and his body was discovered in Primrose Lodge by officers searching for him on Wednesday.

Claire Plummer, manageress of the branch, said: "He will be missed by all of the staff and customers. He was charming and full of integrity."

Mr Cambien, who lived alone in Bolland Prospect, was last seen on Monday by a neighbour in Hayhurst Street at about 6pm.

He was reported as a missing person on Tuesday and concerns for his safety and well-being had grown

A police underwater search unit was called in as part of a routine search to find Mr Cambien and his body was found at about 2.30pm less than a mile away from his home.

It is believed the pensioner regularly went for walks around that area.

In addition to his voluntary work at Age Concern Mr Cambien helped at Cancer Care in the town and was well known in the Clitheroe area through his previous involvement in amateur dramatics.

Police said Mr Cambien's death was not being treated as suspicious and that the coroner had been informed of his death.

An inquest into the circumstances and cause of his death will be held.
