THEY were originally a rock group called No Quarter who played the odd Led Zeppelin classic.

But such was the reaction to the Zeppelin material in their set that in January 1996 they decided to play exclusively Led Zeppelin numbers and changed their name to Whole Lotta Led.

Originally playing in local clubs and pubs, the band soon progressed to touring major rock venues all over the UK and Europe.

Now East Lancashire fans can catch Whole Lotta Led on Friday, November 21 at Colne Municipal Hall.

The band's line up consists of Nick Ferris on guitar, Geoff Hunt on bass, Graham Twist on drums and Lee Addison on vocals.

Their aim is to reproduce the classic Zep songs with the same enthusiasm, passion and excitement that the original band created.

They stress they are not a look-alike tribute, claiming the most important thing about Led Zeppelin was the music.

Their new 34-date themed tour will see the band performing the same set that Led Zeppelin performed at their five legendary Earl's Court shows in May 1975.

It features just about every classic Led Zeppelin song, with numerous epics such as Kashmir, No Quarter, In My Time of Dying and Trampled Underfoot, as well as the rock anthems Stairway to Heaven and Whole Lotta Love.

To perform the set the band had to learn three new numbers and brush up on another seven which they haven't performed for a long time.

Bassist Geoff Hunt said: "This is without doubt the most exhausting set we have ever played.

"It runs for approximately two and a half hours and, apart from the three song acoustic section in the middle, there is no let-up.

"Having said that, we are all really looking forward to it."

The band has been very busy recently raising funds for The ABC Trust, a charity founded by Jimmy Page's wife to help under-privileged children in Brazil.

His involvement with the charity led to a meeting with Jimmy, who has threatened to come to one of Whole Lotta Led's gigs -- so keep your eyes peeled!
