BLACKPOOL Council says it is not responsible for massive hikes in costs for people receiving personal care through the resort's Social Services.
Anchorsholme Cllr Jon Bamborough, was planning to raise the issue at a full council meeting last night (Wednesday) after being approached by people from across the borough.
A council spokesman said yesterday: ""The Council has not increased fees since October last year and any increases or decreases are the result of the Government's new national Fairer Charging Policy. Out of courtesy to councillors, it would be inappropriate to comment further prior to tonight's Council meeting when this issue will be discussed."
Cllr Bamborough said: "It appears once again, that the most vulnerable in our society are under attack."
"Some of these charges have risen by more than 1,000 per cent. I want to know how many people are adversely affected by this so called fairer charging policy, and also, whether or not the council or the Government is responsible."
