KEYBOARD specialist, Brian Hurst, will be making music as well as money for this year's Children in Need.

Brian, who is based in St Annes, will take part in a 12-hour charity keyboard marathon in aid of the event on Friday, November 18.

And Brian has already been inundated with offers of support -- leading him to double his fundraising target to £1,000 already.

"I've been amazed by the reaction we've had," said Brian: "People have been so generous. It's really heartening to see people digging deep into their pockets for such a worthwhile cause."

The keyboard marathon will take place at the BBC Open Centre in Blackburn and is being supported by Radio Lancashire and BBC Manchester.

Brian plays his first note at 8am and will continue until 8pm at night. It is believed to be the first time such a feat has been attempted in the North West and, if he succeeds, it will only be the second time the record has been achieved.

Brian, one half of popular St Annes based cabaret act, A Touch of Class, estimates that during the time he will have played approximately 250 tunes non-stop. His wife, Jackie, the singing half of the act, will join him throughout the day.

BBC Radio Lancashire's Ben Thomson said: "We are delighted that Brian has agreed to do this challenge, and will be supporting him all the way.

"It will not be an easy job and we wish him every success."

All proceeds go to Children in Need, which supports children and families suffering through poverty, abuse and neglect.
