AN 86-year-old died as a result of natural causes and not, as was originally considered likely, as a result of exposure to asbestos.
An inquest heard that Milton Hewell, who lived at Lyndon House residential home, Blackburn, died as a result of inhaling gastric contents. Traces of asbestos fibres were found in his lungs but pathologist Dr Richard Prescott said the degree of asbestos-related disease was very small. He gave the medical cause of death as pneumonia related to the aspiration of gastric contents.
