MARK Patterson has completed the signing of Chorley-born Lee Clitheroe from Southport.

And the right-sided utility man could be joined at Victory Park by another player who has been released by the Sandgrounders, defender Paul Haddow.

However, before Patterson makes his expected move to sign Haddow he will give more of the current Magpies squad the chance to impress at home to Guiseley in UniBond Division One tomorrow.

"There are one or two people I haven't seen yet that I want to have a look at tomorrow before I make any more decisions," said Patterson.

"I've got about 22 players and will give the players a chance. When I got here the list was so long I haven't even met some of them and some will have to leave. I'm still trying to break it down.

"But Lee will add a bit of quality to the squad because he is a fit lad who looks after himself and gets up and down the right flank."

After winning his first game in charge, Patterson's second didn't quite go to plan when Chorley lost 4-1 at Lincoln United last Saturday.

"We need to improve our mental strength and I'm looking for a positive reaction," said Patterson.

"What I'm looking for this weekend is character through the team and players digging in and competing to win their individual battles."

Goalkeeper Paul Eatock has gone on loan to Ramsbottom to replace Mark Molyneaux, who is back in management at Salford City a month after Chorley sacked him.
