Telford 5 Leigh RMI 0: LEIGH RMI's defensive problems mounted when they followed up their 4-1 defeat by Scarborough last week by leaking in another five at Telford.
Goalkeeper Chris McKenzie produced two great saves to deny Leigh's David McNiven and Warren Payton.
But then Telford's 20-year-old striker Chris Murphy took command of the game with a superb hat-trick. Tony Naylor opened the scoring, and then Murphy netted his first before the break.
RMI, without the injured Carl Barrowclough and Wayne Maden, rallied in the second-half but failed to break down the Telford defence and their recent failings in the later stages of games were again evident as Telford scored three times in a 14-minute period.
Murphy completed his hat-trick while Christian Moore added the other.
