A TEENAGER who caused serious damage to a man's eyesight and sexually attacked a schoolgirl is awaiting sentence.

Burnley Crown Court heard how Kurt Tomlinson, 18, hit his victim in the eye with a bottle causing permanent damage. The complainant would now have to wear glasses as he was unable to wear contact lenses because of the injury.

Tomlinson was on bail for that offence when he committed a sex act on a 13-year-old girl. The defendant, of Sedburgh Street, Burnley, denied rape but admitted indecent assault. He had earlier pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

Judge Raymond Bennett remanded him in custody until December 18 for a pre-sentence report. He told the court he wanted the report to look at the future risk the defendant presented.
