BEING icons of an era that ended more than 20 years ago is difficult, but Bjorn Again are up to the task.

"We stand alone in our satin pants," said "Benny", played by London-born Robin Scott -- one of four members of the Eurovision pop cover band who don platforms and glitter every night to perform as Abba to dancing queens everywhere.

Their new tour is named -- appropriately enough -- Two Men, Two Women.

"That's because we are," Benny helpfully explains.

"We spent a long time counting.

"Sometimes there are two extra men on stage who do the dancing.

"But we thought four men, two women sounded a little bit dodgy and we want to appeal to families."

Although the tour will include a few Abba classics, the band will also be covering lesser-known hits.

"We're doing a few unusual songs people won't even know," said Benny.

"There are real contrasts and lots of different styles. There's a rock bit, an acoustic bit and some disco stuff.

"But it's all still fun. We just fancied doing a much fresher, newer show."

And if that isn't an enticing enough prospect for Abba fans, there is also the chance to engage with the group as they strut their stuff on stage.

"The best stuff is always off-the-cuff -- the things people say in the audience," said Benny.

"We never get heckled in a bad way and we're all fairly funny. We get on very well as a group."

Bjorn Again have been going for 13 years now and yet the pop they peddle is still as popular as ever.

"The reason Abba music is so popular is because it is so good," insisted Benny.

"It's iconic in the way The Beatles' music is. Their music has become the heart of the '70s era, the same way The Beatles were the heart of the '60s.

"At the time Abba were viewed as being a bit cheesy and naff, but to say that now would be to ignore the fact their music has lasted for so long."
