A DRIVE by Transco employees in the North West has helped the company improve safety at work and raise £2.5 million for charity.
Employees of the gas pipeline company, which has offices and depots across the region, including Gorse Bank, Blackburn, Oswald Street, Burnley and Bengal Street, Chorley, have worked hard to reduce the number of accidents at work in a bid to raise funds for the learning disability charity, Mencap.
The less time workers lose through injuries at work, the more the company gives to Mencap. Staff have also been encouraged to spot and report potential safety hazards which triggers further payments to the charity.
Nationally, Transco has now raised £2.5m and the efforts of the company's 850 employees in the North West contributed £169,000 to this total.
