WILY winger Gavin Cooper could be handed a place in Colne's starting line-up when they travel to take on Hallam in the FA Vase second round.

Reds' recent signings Lee Coldridge and Bernard Morley are both cup tied, and Cooper's goal in last weekend's 3-0 win at Castleton Gabriels may have been enough to impress manager Nigel Coates.

The Colne chief was hoping Gary Rishton will have recovered from a recurrence of an ankle injury in time for tomorrow's game but Craig Whittaker is unavailable due to work commitments.

Chris Ingham, meanwhile, has returned to training following a four-week absence through a knee injury and could make the substitutes bench.

"We'll be making a few unforced changes but it's just one of those things," Coates said.

"It's unfortunate for those who are missing but it's up to those who come in to get their shirt and keep it.

"We're confident going into tomorrow's game.

"We had Hallam watched on Saturday and apparantly they were excellent, which goes against some of their results from their last few games.

"But it just shows they are capable of upping their game.

"They are in a higher league and will more than likely go into the game as favourites.

"But if we play like we can I think we can get a result.

"I probably wouldn't be happy with a replay - I'd prefer to get the job done but, if it has to be that way then so be it.

"But it's nice to stay in a winning habit and the longer we do that the better."
