JUST what is wrong with the police in Bury?

Until four weeks ago my parents had lived happily in Tottington for 30 years. However, due to teenage thugs, aggressive behaviour and the general apathy of the local police, they were forced to move.

My parents and I had to ring the police many times to complain about under-age drinking, smoking and drug taking on the Leeman's Hill estate. On the few occasions they bothered to turn up, they didn't make any attempt to remove alcohol from the teenagers, or check them for drugs, despite the fact that I had witnessed it only half an hour earlier.

I would like to thank Councillor Yvonne Wright for trying to help; however, the police, who were warned by me 12 months ago that problems were going to arise, have done nothing. They and the rest of the councillors for Tottington should be thoroughly ashamed of their inaction and contempt for the hard-working members of society.

Tottington has lost many long-term residents, and I am sure that many more will follow.
