A BURNLEY community group has been given a helping hand to grow food for the community.
Prestwich and Athol Street South Residents Association (PASSRA) is setting up an allotment as a community enterprise growing herbs and vegetables and selling surplus stock.
The group needed to buy a poly tunnel to grow herbs and vegetables but could not afford the cost.
But Barrowford-based First Tunnels this week donated a greenhouse, worth £300.
PASSRA have been helped by a wide range of organisations including Burnley and Padiham Community Alliance, Groundwork East Lancashire, Burnley Enterprise and Community Wardens.
Jo Royle, enterprise co-ordinator at Burnley Enterprise, said: "We have more than 400 active community groups in the borough of Burnley and therefore a huge potential for community enterprise."
