A RESIDENTS-only parking scheme in Colne looks set to be scrapped due to a lack of support from the public.
Pendle Council had originally planned to introduce the parking scheme in Dickson Street, Townley Street and Windsor Street and its Colne Committee had granted planning permission in December 2002.
But a poor response from a questionnaire posted to residents last year was followed by a similar response to a second survey conducted by the council earlier this year.
This second survey saw just 24 per cent of the 82 households questioned back the scheme, while 65 per cent failed to reply.
This prompted the council's highways, engineering and design manager Ray Wallace to recommend that the scheme is not introduced.
His report will be discussed at the next meeting of the Colne and District Committee tomorrow.
