A MOTHER today explained how she made her son Blackburn Rovers' youngest ever season ticket holder - in memory of his dead father.

Angela Molloy, 37, gave birth to Conor on April 16 2003, just months after losing her husband Kieran through heart problems.

And she was so determined his seat at Ewood Park would be handed down to the next generation, she snapped it up for him when he was just one-month-old.

Mrs Molloy, of Claringdon Road East, Little Harwood, a management accountant at Blackburn College, said her husband remembered being carried over the turnstiles at Rovers by his dad.

She now plans to continue the tradition with Conor. The youngster was born on April 16 2003 and has now just had his season ticket renewed for a second season.

Spokesperson for Blackburn Rovers, Miriam Clucas, said: " As far as we are aware, he's the youngest season ticket holder we've ever had."

His mother explained: "The family have always been big Blackburn Rovers supporters, especially Conor's dad who had a season ticket for at least 30 years, if not longer.

"Unfortunately, Kieran died suddenly in January 2003 before Conor was born, so I decided to buy Conor a season ticket to save his dad's seat for him.

"Although he was too young to go to matches last year, I am planning to take him down this season, with his brother Antony, who is four.

"It will be nice to go to matches as a family.

"My sister-in-law has the seats behind us and now Conor will grow up watching Rovers in the same seat as his dad did.

"It was Antony's first full season last year and he really enjoyed it.

"But I must admit he did fall asleep in the middle of the Arsenal match."

A Rovers spokesman added: "Fans are the bread and butter of every football club and it goes without saying that we hold them, young and old, in the highest regard.

"Their support is fully appreciated."
