JANET Anderson MP is correct to not want the expansion of slot machine venues that has happened in Australia. Her scrutiny committee has improved the gambling proposals.
However she does want large casinos all over the country, each containing over a thousand jackpot slot machines. Her committee is to scrutinise the key question of marketing and inducements. It may allow casino hotels to give away millions of free drinks, free meals and free rooms.
Existing businesses near to these new Vegas style complexes will be unable to compete with FREE.
Hundreds, if not thousands of jobs will be lost or at best transferred from locally-owned firms in to the US-owned massive casino hotels.
Is that really the best you can offer the people of Lancashire?
