A CUCKOO lays its egg in another bird's nest, fooling the mother into bringing up the baby cuckoo. The cuckoo then flies the nest.

Six persons join the local Labour Party, they use its manifesto and resources to be elected as Labour Party councillors, then fly the nest.

All six remain as councillors, effectively creating another political party with a different agenda. This is a frightening development in Blackburn.

I find it disturbing that someone can use the resources and expertise of a particular party to get elected then as soon as that is accomplished, immediately switch allegiance.

This is hypocrisy -- what about the voters who elected them? I wonder what stance those same councillors would take if some ultra right wing group chose the cuckoo method to gain political power in our town?

I would hope the six persons concerned will have a rethink and do the honourable thing.
