DRIVING round the side streets of Hyndburn, I notice a number of streets have a sign saying Weak Bridge. Now the puzzling anomaly is that there isn't a bridge to be seen anywhere.

Now when I drive through places like the Trough of Bowland I stop to see if the sign says Very Strong Bridge.

Quite a few times I have got out of the car and walked to the middle of the bridge and jumped up an down a few times then shouted "it seems OK Alice. I think we dare cross over very gingerly."

I wish that people who erect street signs put information on that is correct. Some of them say 20 miles but they are only little streets and I doubt if some of them are a couple of hundred yards.

I am sure it doesn't mean only travel at 20mph because some drivers overtake me doing 40mph but then Hyndburn must be the easiest borough in England for traffic violations.
