COMMUNITY spirit has helped to clear up a litter-strewn area of Radcliffe.
The Dumers Lane Tenants' and Residents' Association, and helpers, gathered along Seddon Avenue, on Saturday armed with litter pickers and bin bags.
The team of more than 30 people spent the day collecting crisp bags, cans and other bits of rubbish, leaving the road free of litter.
A small team of workmen from Bury Council also joined the team to help remove heavy waste.
Debbie Standring, tenant participation officer for the area, said "The team worked so hard to clear all the rubbish. They wanted to get on with the project for a while and decided to make a start themselves to make it a nicer place.
"Lots of children got involved too to help reduce the amount of waste in the area. The street looks really good now."
