A WEEKEND of music and fun is in store for visitors to Pennington Hall Park, Leigh.
The park's new multi-purpose 'gazebo' will be officially opened by the Mayor of Wigan, Cllr John Hilton, at 11am on Saturday.
Celebrations are planned for the whole weekend with bands playing on Saturday and a less formal beach day in the park on Sunday with music and entertainment
Local councillor John O'Brien said: "The weekend of activities should appeal to all age ranges and will emphasise that the gazebo is a multi-purpose facility for all members of our community.
"The project was developed in response to the needs of park users and surrounding residents, and will provide park lovers of all ages with a much-needed space for concerts and outdoor events."
