LIONS...26 CHORLEY LYNX...20

THE Lions got back to winning ways with a hard fought victory over Chorley Lynx, and it took them only three minutes to get on the scoreboard.

Wayne English, Peter Cannon and Jason Roach combined to get ex-Lynx player Ian Hodson over in the corner for the try and Paul Ashton added the goal.

The Lions then increased their lead in the 16th minute, when Cannon's pass sent Ian Sinfield in, Ashton again added the goal.

Chorley hit back in the 24th minute when Capewell evaded some week Lions' tackles to go in under the posts and add the goal points. He then slotted over two penalty goals before the half was out.

The second half started brightly for the Lions when Mick Coates put in a great 40/20 kick in the 46th minute. From the resulting scrum English raced in on the left and Ashton added the goal.

Ashton stretched the Lions lead on the hour when he kicked a penalty and the final Lions' try came in the 62nd minute when Cannon and Whittaker combined to send Maye in under the posts and again Ashton added the simple goal points.

Ex-Lion Ade Meade then raced in at the corner for the Lynx's second try, but Capewell was unable to convert.

The visitors scored their third try in the dying seconds when Mick Redford went in by the posts and Capewell added the goal points, but the Lions had held out for victory.
