SEDGLEY Park has added no less than four more players to its burgeoning squad in preparation for the big step-up to National League One in September.
Perhaps the most coveted signature obtained this week was that of 23-year-old try-scoring wing, Richard Welding from fellow first division outfit Orrell.
While back row forward Jon Skurr, wing Jon Feeley and up-and-coming fullback Danny McGee join the Tigers from across the Pennines.
"Richard may only be a young player but he's a real game breaker and I've watched his progress from being a youngster," said Tigers' president Geoff Roberts.
"He had had offers of a full-time contract from clubs further afield, but as he didn't want to move away from the North West his options were limited and he chose us over remaining with Orrell."
Welding first played for Orrell against Gloucester three years ago after working his way up through the club ranks, he has also appeared at centre and full back and has played for Lancashire at under18 level.
The versatile Skurr, aged 24, was named Wakefield's' Player of the Year' after he emerged the club's stand-out player, making 28 appearances and two as sub, putting his body on the line with some great defensive displays, while his support play was rewarded with seven tries as he finished joint top try scorer.
Previously he played for Otley and dabbled with rugby league at Featherstone Rovers.
Feeley, aged 25 is a fleet-footed former Leeds Tykes' winger who played 19 times for Wakefield last season, scoring six tries.
Twenty-two-year-old McGee played for Keighley and Leeds Academy before joining Hull Ionians, where he scored 10 tries in League 3 North, before moving to Halifax.
A former Yorkshire schools player, he was selected for the White Rose county's senior squad for this season's County Championship.
The final pieces in the Tigers' team jigsaw are a top class stand-off and another second row to complement Eric Lund, Paul Arnold and Willie Stockdale.
The club met with a Kiwi fly-half earlier this week and are awaiting an answer to the contract offer made to him.
As for a lock, two players in particular are under consideration: one was in the Premiership last season, the other plies his trade in South Africa.
