BLACKBURN Rovers legend Simon Garner may be tempted to scream 'I'm a footballer...get me out of here!' when he appears on ITV's Fantasy Football show tonight.

For Garner has been roped into making his singing debut on the popular show, which is hosted by comedy duo Frank Skinner and David Baddiel.

The former Rovers star will close the programme with a rousing rendition of an old song called 'Rooney.'

But Garner today admitted he's never sung in public before -- and he's more nervous about tonight's performance than any big game he's played in in the past.

"Richard Slater, who helped me write my autobiography, got in touch with the guys who make the programme and put my name forward and they said they had me down on their short-list already. Then the next thing I knew, I was appearing on the show," said Garner, who also writes a weekly column for the Evening Telegraph.

"I'm not saying I was set-up but I didn't know anything about it.

"I've got to admit I'm not very good at singing but I've been watching the programmes so far and most people have only been on for about 15 seconds at the end which isn't too bad.

"Nevertheless, I'm more nervous about this than I ever got before a big game."

An audience of 3.5 million is expected to tune in.

And other guests set to appear on tonight's show are former 'I'm a Celebrity' star Rhona Cameron and Brian McFadden, the former West Life singer and husband of recent 'I'm a Celebrity' winner, Kerry.
