PRESTWICH Heys resume training on Tuesday, June, 29, at 6.45pm, and the summer break has not been short of activity with work continuing on the ground.

The clubhouse has been completely refurbished and CCTV has been installed in an effort to end the vandalism that has plagued the club in recent years.

Extensive work has been carried out on the playing area and, with the reduction in games this season, the quality should be retained.

The reason for far less games is the disbandment of the two youth teams because the majority of players have passed the age limit.

The Manchester League held its annual meeting on Tuesday and draft fixtures have been issued for the season, that commences on August, 14.

The draw as made for the first round of the Gilgryst Cup and Heys have been drawn away to Breightmet United.

Before this, there is the group stage of the Goldline Trophy and fixtures are as follows:

Sunday, August, 1: Atherton Colls, home.

Wednesday, August, 4: Eagley, away.

Tuesday, August, 10: Elton Vale, home.

Other games prior to these dates have still to be confirmed but dates and opponents will be advised.

The club held its annual awards ceremony recently with an afternoon of alternative entertainment. Awards went

to:

First team: Marvin Walters, Marcus Dydyna, Derek Watson and Adie Moran.

Second team: Mark O'Brien, David Carrington and Jon Monies.

'B' team: Neil Cropper, Andy Smith and Jason Garside.

The team management structure will remain the same as last season with Adie Moran, Rob Evans and Liam Byrne continuing in similar roles to last season.

John Hunter assumes the position of treasurer, replacing Steve Howard, and the club extends its appreciation to Steve for the hard work done by him over a considerable number of years.

Another loss to the club was announced this week, with Scott White stepping down as Press Officer and programme editor.

Scott has done a great job in raising the profile of the club and his presence will be missed.

This Sunday, a car boot sale will be held at the Sandgate Road ground at 8am.

Car parking for patrons is free and refreshments will be available in the clubhouse all morning.

All proceeds will go towards future ground development.
