AS someone who enjoys browsing around car boot sales, I would like to warn people about a practice that it becoming all too common.

I understand that the licence granted by Bury MBC stipulates "no new goods", yet at most of the car boot sales I have been to recently there has been at least one stall selling copied and pirated DVDs and CDs.

It is easy to recognise these copies. The covers are usually quite badly printed on a PC, and the seller usually has three or four copies of the same DVD. It also seems the norm for them not to have a car behind them. I assume this is so they cannot be traced by their vehicle registration.

Pirated DVDs are usually of recent films, so not available on DVD in this country.

Although I have never bought anything from these criminals, I have heard from some who have that they were very poor copies at best -- that is if you can even get your machine to play them!

I would make a request of car boot organisers. If your licence says "no new goods" please ensure that this is the case. Walk around and if you see someone breaking your rules then send them off. After all, I doubt your charitable cause would be very pleased if you were refused permission to hold any more!
