STAN Ternent has given the thumbs-up to Steve Cotterill's Turf Moor revolution.

Former Clarets chief Ternent is buzzing with excitement ahead of his testimonial game at Turf Moor against Manchester United on Tuesday.

But Ternent is equally excited about the way his successor has hit the ground running as Burnley boss.

"I think it's pretty obvious what Steve has done. When you have a team that scored as many as we did, but conceded as many goals as we did, it's equally pretty obvious where the problem lay," he said.

"He has addressed that and now there's only Mo Camara starting from the defence I had.

"Steve has also strengthened it up in midfield in front of the two centre halves and it looks alright."

Tuesday's testimonial will be the first time Ternent has set foot back inside Turf Moor since his emotional departure following the league game against boyhood heroes Sunderland last May.

But the Clarets most successful manager since the glory days of the 1960s insists the club will always be close to his heart.

He added: "I keep in touch, but only through what I see in the newspapers. My time has gone and I wouldn't go back at present because I don't think it's the right thing to do.

"It could be like a monkey on Steve's shoulder and that's not right. But obviously I watch it closely and they have had a decent start."

Meanwhile, tickets priced at £16 (adults) and £6 (concessions) are still on sale for Tuesday's game, which could see the likes of United stars Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Tim Howard, among others, grace Turf Moor in a game being beamed live to 52 countries by MUTV.

Former Clarets striker Ian Wright may also be tempted to pull on the claret and blue shirt one more time following a host of international call-ups that threaten to decimate Cotterill's

already threadbare Burnley squad.

There are also a limited number of 'Meet the Celebrities' packages available, priced at £50 per head.

The deal includes a pre-match meal, use of an executive lounge in the Bob Lord Stand and a chance to mingle with the stars, set to include Sir Alex Ferguson, Sam Allardyce, David Moyes, Steve Bruce, Bryan Robson, Mitchell Thomas, Wright and a whole host of former Clarets.
