THE owner of a dog that became world famous for its telepathic powers is helping to conduct research into the power of the female mind.

Pam Smart, 47, of Kay Brow, Ramsbottom, hit the headlines last year when her 15-year-old telepathic terrier Jaytee became the subject of a series of experiments designed to prove his psychic skills.

After London-based Dr Sheldrake spent five years working with Pam and her clever canine she was offered the opportunity to work as a researcher for him.

Dr Sheldrake, a biologist author, was a fellow and director of studies in biochemistry and cell biology at Clare College, Cambridge, until 1973, and has worked in the United States and India.

With Pam's help award-winning Dr Sheldrake has recently had a new book 'The Sense of Being Stared At, and Other Aspects of the Extended Mind' published.

The research saw hundreds of people all over the world taking part in a number of experiments.

Pam said: "My work with Dr Sheldrake came about because of the work that was done with Jaytee.

"The latest papers involved people being blindfolded using a clicker and a random pattern of stares.

"The results showed that women were more susceptible than men but that has been the case historically with women having better intuition skills than men."

Dr Sheldrake's latest book, The Sense of Being Stared At, and Other Aspects of the Extended Mind, is published by Hutchinson priced at £17.99.
