DRIVERS are being urged to seek better alternatives to getting stuck on congested roads on their drive to work by the county council's TravelWise team.

As children start the new school term - traditionally a time when traffic volumes increase greatly - TravelWise officers are advising commuters to look at other forms of transport that will make their trips to school and work easier and also alleviate congestion on the county's roads.

Richard Owens, TravelWise marketing manager, said: "In many cases using the car can seem to be the only option. Yet public transport in Lancashire is getting better all the time and small changes in travel behaviour can quite often improve the morning commute."
