FA Cup preliminary round - Atherton Colls 1 Alsager Town 2: COLLIERIES were dumped out of the FA Cup at the preliminary round stage after failing to make their first-half superiority count.
Alan Lord's side had several chances to take the lead against their fellow North West Counties League First Division opponents, but keeper Rob Powner was inspired.
Alsager went ahead 17 minutes from the end when Wayne Brotherton scored from the penalty spot. When Anthony Tarr scored a second four minutes later, Collieries feared the worst.
Dave Conlon pulled a goal back in the final minute, but Collieries ran out of time.
