I THOUGHT your article regarding the situation facing the immigrant Aftab family (August 27) was superficial in the extreme.

The general tone seemed more about "cheerleading" than presenting any balanced account of the facts. The piece merely reiterated a number of assertions without attempting any form of explanation or justification. For example

(a) Why does this family believe they are under threat? From whom, and for what reason?

(b) If there is an issue why can not it be dealt with by the relevant Pakistan authorities?

(c) Why has it apparently been safe for the father to remain in Pakistan but not for his family to return?
