STAFF at Red Rose Brewery, Station Road, Great Harwood are preparing to join millions of beer drinkers across the UK in celebrating Cask Beer Week, which runs from September 17 - 26.

The brewery, which began producing its own range of ales 2002, is run by microelectric design engineer Peter Booth, and brews eight different ales including Care Taker of History, overall winner of Camra's Accrington Beer Festival 2003.

Peter said: "We pride ourselves on maintaining the tradition of local brewing of local natural ales using only fresh local ingredients.

"The Society of Independent Brewers has increased the opportunities for me to get my beers into local pubs, which enables publicans to give customers the locally produced beers they want."

The home of Red Rose Brewery, the Royal, In Station Road, will be celebrating Cask Ale Week by offering a huge range of ales produced by small independent microbreweries.

REGULARS at the Dog Inn, Revidge Road, Blackburn will be swapping beer mats for tarot cards next week when the pub holds a psychic night.

Two renowned mediums, 'Michael and Barbara', from psychic Adrian Lord's Spirited Away company, will be performing everything from readings, astrology and tarot when they perform at the event on Tuesday, September 14.

The evening starts at 7.15pm and is open to anyone wanting to attend. To book a place for the psychic night, or for more information, phone the Dog Inn on 01254 695195.
