Unibond League - Gateshead 0 Radcliffe 1: LEE Duffy's first-half winner answered Radcliffe manager Kevin Glendon's call for an improvement following his side's slow start to the season.
Duffy found the net six minutes before half-time in this Unibond Premier Division clash after fellow former Rochdale player Rory Patterson had chased a long clearance to set him up.
Patterson himself missed a glorious chance to double the lead just before half-time, when he fired over from two yards.
And Radcliffe were ultimately grateful to goalkeeper Danny Hurst, who made three excellent second-half saves to keep Gateshead at bay.
