A BID to revoke the drinks licence of a Radcliffe shopkeeper was put on ice after complaints that no details of case had been made to his legal team.
Mark Donlan (42), licensee of MD Off Licence, Abden Street, appeared before the licensing bench on Tuesday three weeks after police issued him with a summons.
But in a hearing at Bury Magistrates Court, Mr Donlan's solicitor complained that he had no idea what the case against his client was.
Mr Joe Egan said the summons that was issued stated only that Mr Donlan was "not a fit and proper person" to be a licensee.
Mr Egan said: "We have no idea what the evidence against my client is and, in turn, what his response would be.
"It offends the basic tenets of British justice that someone doesn't know what the case against them is.
"My client stands to lose not only his livelihood, but also the place that he lives at the shop."
Police representatives said they would prefer no adjournment, and that proceedings should go ahead for the good of the nearby community. However, following deliberations, magistrates ruled that a delay could be allowed provided that the case went ahead next Tuesday.
