A TEENAGER'S two-year reign of terror over a community has come to an end.

Seventeen-year-old Daniel Millington has been told he must behave or face up to five years in jail.

Millington's campaign of intimidation and harassment on the Hag Fold estate at Atherton led to two serious assaults, one which left a 40-year-old passer-by with a broken jaw.

But his disruptive antics have now been brought to an end by Wigan and Leigh Housing (WALH), who successfully applied for an Anti Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) against him.

The two-year order bans Millington, of Car Bank Street, Atherton from entering Car Bank Square or being abusive, unruly or intimidating throughout Atherton.

He has also been ordered not to harass or distress his neighbours, damage or threaten to damage property, or use abusive or threatening behaviour against them.

WALH urges people living near Millington to immediately report any bad behaviour to the police.

Wigan Council Cabinet Member for Community Safety Cllr Keith Cunliffe congratulated the WALH for their hard work.

Cllr Cunliffe said: "This case and others before it prove that we will not stand idly by and watch our residents go through hell at the hands of an inconsiderate few.

"We have been given these powers to tackle anti-social behaviour within our communities and we will not hesitate to use them.

"I commend the hard work of our Tenancy Relations Team for successfully applying for the ASBO and applaud those residents who had the courage to come forward and testify in court."
