GARDENERS gathered in Tyldesley Independent Methodist Church to see who was top of the crops.
Premier award went to Eddie Dootson who took the Tyldesley Allotments Challenge Cup for most points with a total of 19 at the TAA annual open vegetable and flower show.
But John Holmes lifted the TE Gilman Cup for taking the vegetable class with a 15 points total.
Charles Sidlow earned a National Allotments Association Blue Ribbon Certificate and the Steff Lee Trophy for a giant 1lb 13 oz truss of tomatoes.
Anthony Holmes and Mick Boylan also gained special awards.
Hilda Walmsley and S Newbury took wins in the sweetcorn, courgette and cabbage classes and show secretary Tommy Patrick tabled the biggest swede and topped three onion classes in a section severely hit by mildew.
