A CHARITY walk in memory of Atherton man Phil Baker raised over £4,000 for Christie's Hospital.

Saturday's event was enthusiastically supported and 100 people rangers from five years to late 50s registered to walk with an assortment of family pets to and from Rivington Pike.

Phil's family would like to express their sincere thanks to the team from BAE who organised things including Mandy Bell, Janice Burns, Christine Keiran, Stewart Greaves and Dawn Wittingham with Mandy generously offering her home as the base for the event with a burger and beer barbecue there at the end.

Prizes were given and raffles were held and the presentation for the highest individual sponsorship went to Sue Peebles, Phil's sister, who had been a tower of strength throughout his illness. The total raised for Christie's Hospital is well over £4,000, and the Memorial Walk was made a great success by everyone involved.

Entrants now look forward to next year's challenge in this annual charity event.
