THEATRE fans will soon be able to make their own curtain calls thanks to a generous Blackburn firm.

Neil Howard Telecoms is providing a new telephone system for Blackburn's newest theatre, the Thwaites Empire, Ewood.

The company has also pledged £1,000 to join the Rogues' Gallery Appeal, which aims to add an extra 120 seats in a fully-refurbished balcony.

So far more than 60 'theatre rogues' have given their support and the final plans - which will take the theatre's capacity to more than 300 - have been drawn up.

More than £400,000 has been raised to transform the once derelict Red Brick Theatre into a community arts centre.

Michael Berry, the theatre's project director, said: "Through the generosity of companies such as Neil Howard we have been able to bring the theatre back to life."
