I CAN'T believe I've lost my room-mate for a few weeks.

I was gutted to hear that Steve Halford had suffered a broken leg. In fact, I couldn't believe it when he told me the results of his scan because I didn't see that coming at all.

It's so frustrating for him because he'd had such a good start to the season, but it's less serious than I suppose it could have been so hopefully he'll be back in a month or so.

On the plus side, at least I might get a good night's sleep on Friday night ahead of the Dagenham game.

Hacker's not a snorer, he just never shuts up, and it's hard enough getting some kip in a hotel bed as it is.

To be honest, me and a couple of the lads have been feeling a bit under the weather ourselves this week.

But hopefully it will be out of our systems well before Saturday then we can concentrate on getting back on a winning track.

Last Saturday was disappointing because of how we lacked a bit of creativity and spark.

It's not like us to not create many chances, especially at home, and it was an awful game to play in.

So we've got to turn it round for the Dagenham game.

They started off really well but have had a couple of bad results. Nevertheless, they are a dangerous side and must not be underestimated.

But we're turning into a quite solid unit. That was the pleasing part of last weekend's game. The back four defended really well because the Woking strikers were quite handy, and Jon Kennedy had another good game.

It's good to see him back on form and it was important to us to keep another clean sheet.

Anthony Gerrard has been added to the squad on loan from Everton, with Stuart Bimson going back to Cambridge last weekend.

Although he was solid at left back, I'm not sure if Stuart will be back at Stanley. But Anthony looks very good and, coming from a Premiership club, has a good pedigree.

He's quite tall and looks like he has a bit of pace about him, which is useful for a centre half, and it will do him good to get some games under his belt.

Hopefully Robbie Williams will have recovered from his groin strain in time to perhaps partner him at the back on Saturday.
