Broadgate came through a mammoth penalty shoot-out to clinch the Under 15s trophy at a tournament in Preston.

Teams from around the North West took part in the Abdul Valli juniors tournament held at the Vida complex.

Broadgate had reached the under 15s final after beating arch rivals Deepdale La Coruna in the semi's on penalties. They came up against Barmy Army in the final and it turned out to be a classic with the game ending 3-3. The penalty shoot-out seemed to go on for ever but it was Broadgate who held their nerve to win 9-8.

It was sweet victory for Broadgate who had earlier in the summer lost in the final of seven-a-side competion. This time there were no mistakes.

In the under 13s Deepdale La Coruna looked favourites to take the competition by storm. They notched up a string of impressive victories to go through to the semi-finals with a one hundred per cent record. However, a shock defeat in the last four left them high and dry. Rochdales Asia FC hoped to add to their the Summer 2004 Cancer Relief tournament victory in the under 13s.

But in the final they came up against a well organised Fishwick Rangers who claimed the honours.

The tournament was organised by Faz Khan of Spotlight on Sport and Canaries FC and he wished to thank all the volunteers who helped out on the day. A total of 30 teams took part.
