WOODBANK'S Neil Ridehaugh had more than a victory to celebrate when his side defeated Lancashire County League champions-elect Prestwich on Sunday.

His important innings of 51 saw him pass the 10,000 run milestone for the Kenyons' club.

Ridehaugh, who to date has 10,030 runs at an average of 46.6, has been with Woodbank for 11 consecutive seasons, was professional for four of them and captain for one.

In that time he has scored 12 centuries and 69 fifties, an exceptional record for a player who many believe could have made the grade at county level.

As well as an accomplished batsman 'Riddy' as he is best known, is also a fine wicketkeeper and has represented and led the Lancashire County Cricket League representative side on a number of occasions.

"Neil is a magnificent ambassador for the game on and off the field," said Woodbank president Doug Howorth.

"His consistency is far above that of even a very good league cricketer.

"As such, he is a model sportsman and an example and inspiration to all players."

On a personal note, Neil will finally tie the knot with his fiance Victoria later this month.

All at Woodbank and his many friends throughout the game will wish them well for another long and productive innings.
