WARD 12 at Fairfield General Hospital has received a cash injection of more than £5,000, thanks to the Women's Royal Voluntary Service (WRVS).
The money will purchase two much-needed Dinamaps -- medical equipment used to measure a patient's blood pressure.
WRVS volunteer Mrs Ellen Warwick said: "The money was raised through the tea shops and trolleys we take round the wards.
"The equipment the money will buy will make a big difference to the ward."
She added: "All the profits we make go back in to the hospital and buy what is needed. And we would like more people to join us and help us raise even more money. We can pay their expenses and it is a great social environment and volunteers can work a variety of times to suit themselves."
