A PRESTWICH-BASED charity has undergone a name change.

Children's Hospitals Appeal Trust (CHAT) is now known as MedEquip4Kids and boasts a new logo.

The well-established charity, situated in George Street, Prestwich, has raised more than £8 million since it was founded in 1985.

It provides vital life-saving equipment to enhance healthcare for babies and children by supporting projects for Greater Manchester Ambulance Service, local hospitals and the community.

Tracey Martin, fundraiser for the charity, said: "We had become increasingly aware that our original name no longer reflected what we do. We hope the new branding will enhance the profile of the charity and its work."

MedEquip4Kids recently purchased several pieces of equipment for the Children's Outpatients Department at Fairfield Hospital, including a Spirometer and Tracey Martin went along to the hospital to hand over the equipment.

A Spirometer is used in the diagnosis of asthma and allows staff to assess patients quicker and more accurately, therefore allowing early intervention.
