A TINY bat captured the hearts of animal workers after it was found hanging in a clump of nettles.

The pipistrelle bat was taken to the wildlife warden at Witton Country Park, Blackburn after it was found with a dislocated jaw and unable to eat.

Luckily, warden Trevor Smith was licensed to deal with bats and nursed it back to full health by injecting it with fluids.

THE left arm of Burnley CC's Trevor James was the toast of the day after he smashed the club's amateur bowling record.

The left arm spinner, 31, took six wickets in the club's win over Rawtenstall.

That brought his total to 72 league wickets - one more than the previous record set by James Proctor in 1893.

After a quick celebration with team mates Jones went to hospital to visit his wife who was about to give birth to their second child.

TEDDY boys were blamed for wreaking destruction at a parade of shops in Bacup.

The gangs smashed shop windows, trampled gardens and kicked-in glass panels in St James's Street.

Local youngsters insisted they were not causing the damage and the culprits were with gangs travelling in from other towns.
