A RECURRENCE of a calf injury for Graeme Jones was the downside of Bury reserves' 2-0 victory over their Macclesfield Town counterparts on Wednesday afternoon.
The experienced striker limped off in the first half to be replaced by Daniel Douglas-Pringle.
Jon Newby was the architect of both goals with the first arriving after only six minutes.
He was sent racing down the wing by a fine ball from Colin Kazim-Richards then delivered a superb cross for Simon Whaley who held off a challenge before firing powerfully past Silkmen keeper Tim Deasy.
Two minutes later the Shakers doubled their account when Newby found Kazim-Richards, who looped a measured effort over the goalkeeper's head.
The nearest Macclesfield came to reducing the arrears was when their Iraqi import Jassim Fayadh hit the post.
